Niti Aayog expert flags paddy overproduction, calls for shift

Niti Aayog member Ramesh Chand on Thursday said those defending status quo in the field of agriculture do not have the courage to introduce changes which is leading to a creative destruction. During a discussion on diversification for higher income and sustainable agriculture in Punjab and Haryana, organised at the Centre for Research in Rural and Industrial Development (CRRID), he raised concern regarding overproduction of crops, particularly paddy.

The Governor of Punjab and Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh, Gulab Chand Kataria attended as Chief Guest the programme titled "75 Years of Chandigarh: Honouring Indian Modernists of Chandigarh" held at the Government Museum and Art Gallery, Chandigarh. The event was organised by the Chandigarh Administration and Chandigarh Citizens Foundation to mark 75 years of the city's creation.

‘Know Your Fauji’ Inspires NSS Youth on Martyrs’ Day

Chandigarh: Gyan Setu Think Tank, under the aegis of the Chandigarh Citizens Foundation, organised a Know Your Fauji outreach programme on Martyrs’ Day, with 75 NSS volunteers from Post Graduate Government College, Sector 1, Panchkula, participating in the event.The programme was organised in coordination with the Western Command, following approval from Army Commander Lt Gen MK Katiyar and Chief of Staff Lt Gen Puneet Ahuja. As part of the outreach, students paid tributes at the War Memorial, visited the museum, watched a film on the command’s role and Operation Sindoor, and viewed equipment and drone displays.

Caring for Elderly Citizens

In Sector 27-D, a pilot project has been launched for senior citizens above 75 years of age who live alone. The aim is to reduce loneliness and the lack of care. The Chandigarh Administration has started this initiative titled “Caring for Elderly Citizens.” A trusted network of resident welfare associations, mahila mandals, doctors, and volunteers is being created, which will work in five steps.

Against the backdrop of alarming mental health indicators, Punjab governor and UT administrator Gulab Chand Kataria on Wednesday inaugurated project SAATHI, a mental health and holistic wellness programme for school students, jointly launched by UT department of school education and Chandigarh Citizens Foundation (CCF).
