Caring for Elderly Citizens

In Sector 27-D, a pilot project has been launched for senior citizens above 75 years of age who live alone. The aim is to reduce loneliness and the lack of care. The Chandigarh Administration has started this initiative titled “Caring for Elderly Citizens.” A trusted network of resident welfare associations, mahila mandals, doctors, and volunteers is being created, which will work in five steps.

Against the backdrop of alarming mental health indicators, Punjab governor and UT administrator Gulab Chand Kataria on Wednesday inaugurated project SAATHI, a mental health and holistic wellness programme for school students, jointly launched by UT department of school education and Chandigarh Citizens Foundation (CCF).

Celebrating 75 Years

The event, titled “Celebrating 75 Years of the Making of Chandigarh (2026)”, began with a welcome address by Vinai Mahajan, vice-president of the Chandigarh Citizens Foundation.
