Book Discussion: Shattered Lands – An Evening of Insight & Engagement
13 November 2025 | Open Air Theatre, CRRID, Chandigarh
The Chandigarh Citizens Foundation (CCF), in collaboration with HarperCollins Publishers India, hosted a compelling and enriching evening centred around the acclaimed book “Shattered Lands: Five Partitions and the Making of Modern Asia.” The discussion featured author Sam Dalrymple in conversation with Ms. Jyoti Malhotra, Editor-in-Chief, The Tribune, and drew an audience comprising leading members of Chandigarh’s civic, academic, and cultural community.
Guests gathered for High Tea served from 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM, creating a warm and engaging atmosphere before the formal discussion commenced. Held in the serene setting of CRRID’s Open Air Theatre, the conversation explored the political, historical, and human dimensions of the partitions that shaped modern Asia. The session was deeply insightful and widely appreciated for the clarity and perspective it offered on a complex subject.
The event opened with a welcome address by General V. P. Malik (Retd), President, CCF, who reiterated the Foundation’s commitment to fostering meaningful dialogue and informed citizenship. The author–editor interaction that followed was lively, thoughtful, and greatly valued by the attendees.
Supported by HarperCollins Publishers India, ICICI Bank, and Bluspring, the event also received excellent print media coverage, further strengthening the growing presence and influence of CCF in the region’s intellectual and civic landscape.
