Maj Gen Mandip Singh, SM, VSM retired after 38 yrs of distinguished service in the Indian Army. A third generation soldier, he served in the Regiment of Artillery.
He was awarded the Sena Medal & Vishist Sewa Medal for his distinguished service by the President of India. He was also awarded COAS Commendation twice, GOC-in-C Commendation & the ‘Scholaris Bellator’ Award for academic excellence twice.
The General was heading the Rashtriya Rifles from where he retired in 2021. He was the Dean at the Army’s premier institution, the Army War College where he contributed to the thinking on operational art, strategic planning, leadership &
emerging technologies & the Deputy Commandant & Chief Instructor at the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun which trains the officers of the Indian Army.
The General is a Visiting Fellow at the Mercator Institute of China Studies (MERICS) , Berlin and is a Senior Fellow at Centre for Land & Warfare Studies ( CLAWS) as well as a Distinguished Fellow at United Services Institute (USI), New Delhi. In his early years, he was a Senior Fellow at the Institute of Defence Studies & Analyses (IDSA), a leading MoD think tank.
Post retirement he is a Strategic Advisor at DC& T Global Pvt Ltd , a company that deals in Edge Data Centers & energy storage solutions. He is also an Advisor at Droneacharya Aerial Innovations Ltd, a leading company in the drone space. He joined the company when it was a fledging start-up and was a major contributor to its journey to become the first listed Drone company on the BSE within 18 months. He is also Advisor, Technology Business Incubation Foundation at IIT, Ropar, where he offers his services in hand- holding the start-up ecosystem in the defence sector. He is also an Advisor at AKCJ Ventures , a Venture Capitalist company that funds start-ups and SMEs.
He continues to write in various international & national journals & periodicals . He lectures on geo-political, leadership, drones & defence issues at leading universities & military institutions.
