Lt Gen Satinder Kumar Saini

Lt Gen Satinder Kumar Saini is a highly distinguished military leader who served as the 41st Vice Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS) of the Indian Army from January 2020 to January 2021. In this strategic role, he provided policy direction for all active, reserve, and training commands, while managing the bulk of the Army’s capital and revenue procurement. Notably, he was a key member of the core group that managed the Ladakh standoff following the Galwan clash and served as the primary coordinator between the Ministry of Defence, DRDO, and various think tanks.

Prior to his appointment as VCOAS, Lt Gen Saini served as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command, where he led over 250,000 personnel and oversaw operational readiness along the Pakistan border following the Pulwama attack. His extensive career includes serving as the Commandant of the Indian Military Academy and as a faculty member at the National Defence College. His tactical expertise was further demonstrated as a Colonel in the Military Operations Directorate and as the Brigadier General Staff for the sensitive 15 Corps in Srinagar, where he managed anti-terrorist operations.

An academically accomplished officer, he holds an MSc in Defence Studies and two MPhil degrees in Defence and Strategic Studies. His military excellence has been recognized with numerous honors, including the Param Vishist Sewa Medal, Ati Vishist Sewa Medal, Yudh Sewa Medal , and Vishist  Sewa Medal. Since retiring, he has transitioned into the private sector as a Strategic Advisor for RRP S4E Innovation, where he aligns product development and defence acquisitions with the evolving dynamics of modern warfare.
