Dr. Vaishali Aggarwal is an accomplished immunologist and translational cancer researcher with extensive expertise in immunology, molecular oncology, and precision medicine. She earned her Ph.D. from the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, India, in 2017 and subsequently pursued postdoctoral research at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, USA co-mentorship with University of Pennsylvania and Harvard Medical School. Her research focuses on understanding immune mechanisms underlying cancer and developing innovative therapeutic strategies for improved patient outcomes. She is presently contributing to Northern Region Science, Technology and Innovation ecosystem under the mentorship of Prof. Rajat Sandhir, Director, PI-RAHI.
Dr. Aggarwal has established an outstanding academic record, reflected by an h-index of 20, an i10-index of 23, a cumulative journal impact factor of 143.39, and significant international recognition for her scientific contributions. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, contributed five book chapters, edited or authored four books, and is a co-inventor of a patent on novel therapeutic agents and methods for the treatment of liver cancer. She has also reviewed more than 115 scientific manuscripts and serves on the editorial boards of journals published by Cell Press, Elsevier, Frontiers, and MDPI, while also serving as a reviewer for Springer Nature, Cell Press, Frontiers, and MDPI journals.
Committed to continuous professional development, Dr. Aggarwal has completed an MBA Micro-credential in Leading People in Organizations from the Katz Graduate School of Business, University of Pittsburgh, along with specialized certifications from IIT Madras in Biomedical Instrumentation and Sensors, Biomedical Opticals, and Clinical Trial Regulations. She also excels in Mindset to Mastery: The Inclusive Teaching Course through the Center for the Integration of Research, Training and Learning (CIRTL), USA.
Dr. Aggarwal has demonstrated exceptional leadership throughout her career. At the University of Pittsburgh, she served on multiple University Senate committees, including Governmental Relations, Tenure and Academic Freedom, Faculty Affairs, Benefits and Welfare, Budget Policies, and Community Relations and as Advocacy Chair of the University of Pittsburgh Postdoctoral Association (UPPDA) for two consecutive terms and represented the postdoctoral community globally. She currently serves on the Leadership Committee of Science and Research Operations in India (Sci-ROI), USA. Earlier in her career at PGIMER, she served two consecutive terms as General Secretary of the Association of Basic Medical Scientists (ABMS), contributing significantly to academic and professional development initiatives for young scientists.
