Dr. Shruti Bedi
A distinguished Professor of Law and Director at the University Institute of Legal Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh. Professor (Dr) Shruti Bedi is an expert in constitutional law, she also heads the Centre for Constitution and Public Policy, Panjab University and serves as Honorary Chief Editor of Forces Law Review, the world’s first global military law journal. She is an International Fellow at the National Institute of Military Justice, Washington DC, and Visiting Professor at Universitas Airlangga, Indonesia.
Recognised for her contributions to legal thought and public service, Prof. Bedi is a TEDx speaker and recipient of The Phenomenal She Award (2022) conferred by the Indian National Bar Association. She has also been honoured by the British Deputy High Commission for her role in strengthening Indo-UK collaboration.
Her academic work spans constitutional law, counterterrorism, and the regulation of emerging technologies. With over thirteen authored and edited books and more than 95 scholarly publications, her notable works include Shaping the Judges: Essays in Honour of Dr. Balram K. Gupta (Law & Justice, 2025), Indian Counter Terrorism Law (LexisNexis, 2016), Judicial Review: Process, Powers and Problems (Cambridge University Press, 2020), Ability: Landmark Judgments on Disability Jurisprudence in India (Browser/Simon & Schuster 2025), and Artificial Intelligence and Constitutionalism (Oakbridge, 2024). Prof. Bedi has delivered lectures and engaged in academic collaborations with leading institutions across the globe including the University of Toronto, University of Ottawa, Nottingham Trent University, Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (Brazil), and Vietnam National University.
