Profile
Ravinder Jolly’s career in research started as JRF in DU in 1977, which than took him through a rich and exciting journey in science, passing through DU, CSIR-NCL, U of Minnesota USA, CSIR-IMTECH, GNDU and back to CSIR-IMTECH. His early stage career was shaped by mentorship of Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan, Dr. AV Ramarao and observing role-models/institution-builders, like Dr. LK Doraiswamy and Dr. RA Mashalkar. This allowed him to learn and gain experience in chemical sciences, including science at chemistry-biology interface as pure science and as applied to understanding of natural products, pharmaceuticals and biological molecules. The experience was quite productive as he was able to publish quality papers, and obtain national and international Patents. Several industrial processes were developed (PI and/or team member), transferred to Industry and went into production at Lupin, Centaur Labs and DRDO, Pune. A multi-million dollar agreement was signed with Nostrum, USA for development of Immunosuppressants and P&G for skin-care products.
