Manmohan is Punjabi Poet, Novelist, Critic, editor and Linguist. He is retired Indian Police Service officer of 1988 batch. He superannuated as Special Director, Intelligence Bureau, Government of India in July 2023.
Presently he is working as Professor of Eminence in Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Punjab. He is member Executive of Punjab Arts Council, Chandigarh. He was Vice Chairman of Chandigarh Sahitya Academy Chandigarh. He also remained member of the General Council of Sahitya Akademi, Delhi from 2017 to 2022.
He is now Chairman, Chandigarh Sahitya Akademi, Chandigarh.
He is also Advisor in National Security Advisory Board (NSAB) in National Security Council, Cabinet Secretariat Sardar Patel Bhawan, New Delhi.
He is also an advisor to Union Public Service Commission.
He is also an Technical Consultant to Uttar Pardesh Public Service Commission.
He did his PhD on Dasam Granth of Tenth Sikh Guru Gobind Singh in 1994.
He got Sahitya Akademi Award on his debut novel ‘Nirvaan’ in 2013.
Honours and Awards:- He has been in honoured with Poetry Award (2001) Criticism Award (2005) and Prose Award (2009) by Punjabi Academy Delhi, Best Poet Award (2003) by Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar Sahitya Akademi Award on his novel ‘Nirvaan’ (2013) and Award of Recognition (2018) by Chandigarh Sahitya Academy Chandigarh. He has also been honoured as ‘Shiromani Sahitkaar’ by the Government of Punjab.
He is also a recipient of Indian Police Medal, President Police Medal, Police Internal Security Medal, Police Special Duty Medal
