A decorated soldier, an alumni of Indian Military Academy( IMA), Dehradun, served for 28 years in the Indian Army ( Infantry) in various Administrative, Staff & Operational appointments. Actively participated in „Kargil Conflict‟, served in J & K during peak militancy (1991 to 1994), Line of Control along Pakistan, LAC along China, and led successful surgical operations along Manipur – Mayanmar. Commanded a Battalion consisting of 1500 troops and 25 Army Officers in Manipur for more than three years. Was Head Admn & Training in Army Training Command – Shimla and Director (Budget) in South Block, New Delhi. Has been to Ukraine, Belarus, Moscow on diplomatic delegation visits.
Awards:
- Recipient of President‟s Award – Sena Medal (SM) for „Outstanding bravery & Exceptional Devotion to Duty‟. The Chandigarh Administration, for this award, honours him with lifelong „Special Incentive‟!
- Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card – Twice.
- Army Commander‟s Commendation Cards – Thrice.
- As a Commanding Officer received the covetous award „Unit Citation‟ for successfully commanding a Unit in highly active insurgency area and bringing back near normalcy along Manipur – Mayanmar border.
- Corporate Innings: In his second innings, was with Aditya Birla Group for a decade plus, heading CSR/HR/Admn.
- Awards:
- Conferred with ‘HR Excellence’ Award at Bangkok during HR Convention Meet.
- Winner for ‘Best CSR Project on Water Conservation’.
Born & brought up in Chandigarh, has been Inter Services Champion in Lawn Tennis, played at National level and is an avid reader.“Giving it Back” is what he tries to follow! Presently, holds Gen Secy post in Bangiya Sanskritik Sammilani, a 53 years old Bengali regd society of Chandigarh. A vibrant cultural & non-commercial society maintaining the rich cultural heritage of Bengal involved in “Cultural Integration” and uplifting the quality of life of the underprivileged in the multi-layered society.
