Prof. Nandita Singh
Dr. Nandita Singh, Professor of Education, started her teaching career in Panjab University in 1985 and has held several Academic and Administrative leadership positions. She remained Chairperson of Department of Education for three years; Coordinator, Interdisciplinary Centre for Swami Vivekananda Studies for more than eight years; Chief Coordinator of Institute for Educational Technology for more than four years; Dean Students Welfare DSW w for four terms and Dean International Students DIS, Panjab University for two terms. She has been serving in the Executive Council of Alumni Association of Panjab University for last two terms. She served as Member of Panjab University Senate for four years; Member PU Syndicate for one term; member of Joint Research board for more than ten terms; member of Academic Council for more than seven terms, Member Board of Studies for 12 terms. She has been a nominated member of Academic council of Banaras Hindu University (BHU)for four years. Member of Academic Council Central University of Punjab, Bhatinda for two years. She has been instrumental in promoting Academic exchange programs and signing MOUs between PU and Universities across the globe.
She has been actively engaged in academic discussions at National level and has contributed in several high power committees in bodies like University Grants Commission(UGC), National Council for Teacher Education(NCTE), Mahatama Gandhi National Council for Rural Education (MGNRE), National Council for Education, Research and Training( NCERT). She contributed in preparing vision document of Inter University Centre for Teacher Education(IUCTE) Varanasi and prepared road map for the same.
Her areas of special interest are: Indian knowledge system and Indian philosophy, Education for Sustainable development, Peace, Ethics, values, Human Rights Education, philosophical and sociological issues in education, Policy formulation in Education etc. She has guided 24 PhD’s in her career and 3 candidates are pursuing their research under her. She has been invited to Chair sessions in several Conferences across the country. She is actively involved in UGC and DST funded research projects. She has published in reputed International and National Journals. She has also appeared in interviews on Doordarshan.
She is an expert member in Boards of Education, Research Boards, Selection Committes of several Universities like Allahabad University, Ambedkar University Lucknow, Barielly University, Garhwal University, Lucknow University, Jammu University, Srinagar Central University, Kerala Central University, Vinoba Bhave University Hazaribagh, Saurashtra University Gujrat,Punjab Central University, Punjabi University Patiala, Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar, Himachal Pradesh University, Guru Jambeshwar University Hissar, MDU Rohtak, Kurukshetra University, Haryana, central Univ of Haryana, Mohindergarh, MSU Baroda and IITE Gandhinagar.
Prof. Nandita participated as invited guest (Observer) in the International Conference, Mind and Life Dialogue (33rd), which focussed on teaching of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and Secular Ethics( hosted by Dalai lama Trust and Chaired by HH Dalai Lama at Dharamsala, March 12-16,2018)
She was also Invited to present a Paper and chair a session in Oxford Round Table Conference on Women Rights.Her paper on ‘Higher education for Women in India- Choices and Challenges’was selected for publishing in the Journal of Oxford Round Table, Forum on Public policy online (01)2008
She has been nominated as a mentor for the Project- Adopt a School and Change a Generation initiated by UT administration, Chandigarh and is also a member of Governing Body of Ankur school in Panjab University.
