Major General Amarjit Singh graduated from the Panjab University and was commissioned into the Indian Army in December 1977. He was commissioned into the Armoured Corps. He commanded an armoured brigade and a mountain division. He was an instructor in the tactical Wing at the School of Armoured Warfare and was in the Operations Research and Systems Analysis branch of the Perspective Planning Directorate at Army Head Quarters. He is the alumni of the Defense Services Staff College and College of Defense Management where the initiated the department of Strategic Management. As a Major General he was part of the Army Training Command where his role was to study China, Pakistan and the internal insecurity of India and test the Operational Plans of Commands against plausible scenarios that could be generated by the adversary. He holds a post graduate degree from Madras University and a master’s degree in management from Osmania University. He is an M Phil from Panjab University and is a visiting professor with the National Security and Defense Studies Department of Panjab University.
