Ramanjit Kaur Johal did her Masters’ and Ph.D. (1990) in Public Administration from the Department of Public Administration, Panjab University, Chandigarh following a BA Economics (Hons) from Lady Shriram College for Women, Delhi University. She superannuated from the Department of Public Administration, Panjab University, Prof. Johal’s research has focused on Public Policy and Administration including substantive aspects like environment and agriculture policy, social policy, education, health, urban development, civil society participation and administration of NGOs. Her interest in studying Higher Education Administration converged with its practice having served 2 terms as Chairperson, Department of Public Administration, Dean International Students and Director Research Promotion Cell, Panjab University. A Shastri Indo-Canadian Researcher (2003-06) and Fulbright Awardee (2012 & 16), she has also been a consultant to the Commonwealth Youth Asia Center & UNDP on youth participation in governance & SDGs. She is currently the North India Co-coordinator for the Climate Compatible Growth Network (CCG) funded by the UK Government. Prior to this she led a GCRF, UK project (TIGR2ESS) at Panjab University, a multi-institution and multi-disciplinary project led by the University of Cambridge, U.K., on wellbeing in rural and peri-urban areas, in Punjab, through improved nutrition, skill development and entrepreneurship with a special focus on youth and women. Currently she serves as Member, Punjab State Audit Advisory Board; Nominated expert member Social Impact Assessment Committees of Punjab Government and Chandigarh Administration; Vice President, Society for Applied Studies, Kolkota; Director, Kirrt SEWA, Punjab; Member, Governing Body, Guru Nanak Vidyak Society’s Guru Nanak College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Mumbai; Member, Advisory Board, PANJ Foundation.
