Dr. Ambuj Sharma

Dr. Ambuj Sharma is a distinguished academic and philosopher with over two decades of scholarly excellence in higher education. Currently serving as Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Philosophy at Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector 11, Chandigarh (since March 2019), he previously held academic positions at Dev Samaj College for Women, Ferozepur City, Punjab (2002-2019).

Dr. Sharma earned his Ph.D. in Philosophy from Panjab University and completed his M.A. in Philosophy with first-class distinction, securing first position and receiving the prestigious Panjab University Medal for academic excellence. His scholarly credentials were further enhanced through his tenure as Visiting Fellow at the Department of Sociology, Delhi School of Economics, Delhi University (2014).

His interdisciplinary research encompasses philosophy of education, pedagogy, social and political philosophy, identity studies, gender discourse, caste dynamics, cultural politics, ethics, and Indian intellectual traditions. Dr. Sharma has authored “Unraveling Gandhi’s Alternative Modernity: A Philosophical Debate on Caste and Gender” (2018) and contributed extensively to peer-reviewed academic journals.

Dr. Sharma demonstrates exceptional leadership through his service on multiple academic bodies, including the Post-Graduate and Under-Graduate Board of Studies in Philosophy at Panjab University, the Curriculum Development Committee at Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh and as a nominated member of the State Focus Group for NEP 2020 position papers under SCERT, Himachal Pradesh. He had organized over 30 national and international academic conferences, seminars, and workshops.

His commitment to experiential learning is exemplified through the establishment of Philosophical Societies at both institutions, fostering student discourse and organizing over 180 student seminars. His pedagogical expertise spans Logic, Ethics, Epistemology, and Metaphysics across undergraduate and postgraduate curricula.

Currently supervising four doctoral candidates, Dr. Sharma has delivered over 50 invited lectures at prestigious institutions and presented research papers at numerous national and international seminars and conferences. His scholarly contributions to Gandhian philosophy, gender studies, and social justice discourse have significantly enriched contemporary philosophical scholarship.
